J.League 1 R5 – Iwata vs Kashima Preview

Jubilo Iwata – Kashima Antlers:

Iwata are yet to win a match this season which is very alarming considering they’ve only met weak teams.  Together with Vegalta Sendai they look like the early favorite for relegation and I will be surprised if they can get away with anything here vs Kashima.

Kashima lost the 1st match but have looked strong after that and looked particularly good in the 3-1 away win vs Consadole last round. However, they got a ton of injuries especially to their defence and ahead of this match they’ve lost another one in the reliable centre-back Jung.

Still, there should be enough quality in this team to still be considered the favorite here and I expect them to end up with all 3 points. Kashima are a good away-team too and have won 6 out of their last 9 away-matches in the league. Head-to-head records are also strongly in Kashima’s favour with Iwata only having won 3 out of the last 30 matches between them.

Expected Starting Lineup Iwata:
24Ogawa – 25Ominami –  4Shinzato – 41Takahashi
