J1 R1 – Shonan vs Consadole Preview

Shonan Bellmare – Consadole Sapporo:

The last match of the round is between Shonan and Consadole, 2 teams that have usually been plying their trade in J2 and not J1 but who are both now looking to establish themselves in Japan’s highest division.   But where Consadole had a fairytale of a season last year which ended with a ever-best 4th Shonan escaped relegation-playoff by the smallest of margins (goal-difference).

With that in mind Consadole should be considered the favorites here, and they had a pretty good away-record last season too and lost only 4 matches on the road.  Shonan were extremely under at home last season (and have been for 4 years in a row) and it will be interesting to see if they will stick to a defensive approach this year as well.

I think this is a game and opponent that suits Consadole well though and think they will avoid defeat or maybe even snatch a narrow win. Shonan also looks a bit weakened with imho 2 of their best players Kikuchi and Umesaki not expected to be in the starting-eleven.

Shonan Expected Starting Lineup:
13Yamane – 4Saka – 8Ono
6Okamoto – 18Matsuda*  – 16Saito – 5Sugioka
14Nakagawa – 39Taketomi(I)

Prediction: 0-1 or 1-1

Odds Info:
I got some value on Under 2,5, but no bets. Market Price on the HCP seems more or less correct.
