J1 R1 – Gamba vs Marinos Preview

Gamba Osaka – Yokohama F Marinos:

Gamba Osaka were the 2nd best home-team in the league last season, and they hope Suita Stadium will be a feared place to visit for the opposing teams this year as well.  I think Gamba could be in for a good season actually, although they have been very quiet on the transfer market with only DF Kim as a notable signing.

Marinos have seen some major changes to their attack with both their 2 best strikers having left,  but the players brought in seem to be of equally or better quality so I expect goals from them this year as well. Their defence remains their weak point though, so it’s tough to predict their overall quality. For this match it seems they will field 3 defenders with little to none experience from J1 in Hirose, Takano and Hatanaka and I think they will be up for a tough task stopping Gamba’s ace striker Hwang. So all in all I think we are up for an entertaining game here and although Gamba were very under at home last year there should be decent chances of seeing some goals here.
