J.League 1 R4 – Shimizu vs Vegalta Preview

Shimizu S-Pulse – Vegalta Sendai:

Both Shimizu and Vegalta are off to a great start this season and still unbeaten. Few would have thought that at the start of the season and particularly Shimizu have looked impressive I think. Especially going forward, as their fast counter-attacking style developed under Jan Jönsson seems to be very effective in J.League.

Vegalta have opted for a very defensive strategy in all their games so far, which have worked well. Compared to a lot of other Japanese teams they have a rough playing style and often succeeds in bullying the opponents from playing to their usual strength, like in the season opener vs Reysol.

Don’t think Vegalta’s good run will continue forever, but it’s dangerous to go against them at this point. There is some value on Shimizu here but not enough to justify any bets so I’m skipping this one.
