Asian Champions League MD4 – Wednesday

Jeju United – Guangzhou Evergrande:

Jeju only got 3 points from 3 matches so far and another loss here will put them in a tough position with regards to getting through to the next round. Because Cerezo is expected to beat Buriram at home, and that means there will be 7 points up to 2nd place if they lose tonight.  They lost twice at home in ACL last season, and also lost at home vs Cerezo in R1 so they are not a particularly strong home-team.  They are a physically tough team though that can be difficult to play against which doesn’t really suit the more technical players of Evergrande that well.

Evergrande are unbeaten this year with 5 points from 3 matches, but haven’t really looked their usual selves. They went 2-0 down early in the home-match vs Jeju before Ricardo Goulart single-handedly turned the match around for them.  They are not as strong as they used to be a couple of seasons ago, and this will definitely not be an easy match for them.

They are made favorites by the bookies, and I find a little bit of value on a Jeju 1×2 bet.

Prediction: 2-1 or 1-2

Jeju 1×2 @ 3,00 (5 units)

Cerezo Osaka – Buriram United:

Cerezo Osaka fielded their b-squad in the away-match against Buriram last week, and ended up losing 0-2.  We’ll see a totally different side here, as most of their 1st team regulars are expected to start.

They got 4 points so far, and another win here will be a big step towards qualifying for the next round as they still got a  home-match against Jeju remaining in R6.

Buriram also got 4 points but they have already played 2 home-games and all of their remaining matches seems extremely tough on paper.  I expect them to approach this game very defensively as they will settle for a point, but don’t think they will be able to withstand Cerezo’s superior strength. Should be a comfortable home-win in the end.

Predicton: 2-0 or 3-0

FC Kitchee – Kashiwa Reysol:

3 straight losses and 0-10 in goal difference so far for Kitchee in ACL, but it’s not all bad.  They weren’t too far away from stealing a point against Reysol last round, and are probably very happy with only losing 0-1 despite being under constant pressure throughout the entire match.  At home I think we’ll see a slightly different scenario as Kitchee will take more chances going forward, and we saw against Jeonbuk how bad that can go as they also leave open space for the other team to attack then.

Can’t really see any other outcome than a big win for Reysol here.

Prediction: 0-4 or 1-4

Tianjin Quanjian – Jeonbuk Motors:

Tianjin’s performance in this year’s ACL so far have been a bit underwhelming. They got 4 point so far, but were outplayed both by Jeonbuk and Reysol.  They got away with a point vs Reysol only thanks to a late equalizer from Pato.

Jeonbuk on the other hand is the only team with 9 points out of 9 possible in the East Asian groups and they will look to make it 4 straight wins here. This one might be a bit tough though as Tianjin should be much better at home than away.

There is slight value on Tianjin here I think as Jeonbuk shouldn’t be considered the favorites away, and it’s worth a small bet in my eyes.

Prediction: 2-1 or 2-2

Tianjin DNB @  2,07 (5 units)
