J.League 1 Season Preview 2018 – Kashima Antlers

Kashima lost the title with the smallest possible margin last season, as 2 draws in the final 2 matches saw Kawasaki leap-frog them on the final day of the season ahead on goal-difference only. As usual, Kashima haven’t made too many changes to their squad, but have bolstered the defence with a couple of quality signings. Uchida have returned from German football, and if he can find back to the form that made him a household name in Germany he will be a big boost to their defence. Anzai from Tokyo Verdy and Inukai from Shimizu are also good additions, and they now have very good depth in all positions. Offensively as well they look good, with lots of players that can tip the matches into their favour, and there is not really any weaknesses to this team.  They also compete in ACL, which could affect their performance in some way.
