J.League 1 Season Preview 2018 – Jubilo Iwata

Jubilo Iwata were one of the positive surprises last season, and did really well to finish in 6th place on the table.  They were in the end only a few points behind qualifying for ACL, so they can be very happy with how their season went.  They have only side-midfielder Kawabe of any importance, but seems to have done well in replacing him. The highly rated MF Taguchi has been brought in from Nagoya, but Taguchi is yet to be part of a successful squad on J1-level so the verdict is still out on him the way I see it.  They have also signed the Brazilian wingback Guilherme. They will look to build on last year’s 6th place, but the competition is tough, and ACL is probably out of reach this season as well.
