J.League 1 2017 Season Preview – Sanfrecce Hiroshima

Hiroshima have kept most of their players from last season, with only veteran FW Sato having left. There is still some uncertain whether or not their topscorer last year Utaka will stay or not, but if he stay, then obviously that will make them an even stronger outfit.

They had a somewhat poor 2016-season, and finished in a disappointing 6th place. They also did poor in the other tournaments, and were for example knocked out of the group stage of the ACL. They’ve signed former Reysol-striker Kudo as replacement for Sato (and/or Utaka), and he should be a nice addition. Anderson Lopes, who arrived late last season, should also strengthen their attack, but other than that it is more or less exactly the same players as before.

That might not be a bad thing though, but I don’t think Hiroshima have the quality to challenge for the title, atleast not if Utaka leaves.  A finish just below the best seems more likely.
